Is timing required?

There is no requirement to be timed during your participation in the Adventure Canine Challenge. About 60% of our participants walk. There is also the option to do just one lap.

What should we wear for the Adventure Canine Challenge?

For humans, we recommend activewear and shoes you don’t mind getting wet and dirty. The terrain is uneven and incudes mud, water, and hills, so plan accordingly for your adventure!

Sunscreen is highly recommended for humans.

The only requirement we have for dogs is that they be leashed for the entire time they are on race grounds. The type of leash is up to you. Please remember to respect other dogs' space.

Flea and tick prevention is recommended for dogs.

Course Details

The Course

The Adventure Canine Challenge course is a roughly 5K (3.1 miles) route that consists of two laps around a very natural path.

Plan for there to be some high grass, rough terrain, steep hills, moderately deep water (about 4-5 feet max), sticky mud, and other natural challenges.

Obstacles and Challenges

The Adventure Caning Challenge offers a variety of dynamic challenges for you and your pup to experience growth through!

The course features both natural and man-made obstacles, typically ranging from object traversals, short swims/wading, crawl-unders, agility/focus based tasks, and more.

The obstacles are easy enough that everyone can do them with any size dog. No obstacle requires dogs to be carried.

You can expect between 8-12 obstacles per 1.5 mile lap. While looking at previous photos might give you an idea of the types of obstacles, the variety changes each year.
